The foundation is framed, pouring today?

The framing is all up and in place for the foundation walls. The frames were up last week, but the cold snap we had on Thursday/Friday prevented them from doing any pouring. You can see that we are going to have to clean up the inside walls of the Wine Cellar to make it more usable - there is a bunch of old concrete from the original foundation sticking out.

You can see the chimney base here in the foreground, we located that on the "beach" side wall in the middle of the living room so that we can be looking at the fire and see outside to the lake at the same time.

Here is the foundation for the "bump out" that is giving us the room for a large dining room, the master bath, and "Rich Land" up above.

They are supposed to pour the concrete today (Tuesday) and hopefully with the warm weather the forms will be down on Thursday and framing can start by the end of the week!

It turns out there was an old septic tank under the front yard. The pipe leading to it is sticking out of the wall and was capped off in 1992 (they stuffed a newspaper in the pipe!) which must be when they put in the city water & sewer. The terra cotta pipe under the sidewalk had broken years ago and that was what caused the sidewalk to buckle and heave. I thought it was the old sump pit exit pipe that had broken and caused that problem. I'm glad I didn't keep digging when I put in the patio bricks - 14 year old poo could have been there...
